My name is James Roan, a
certified school psychologist, and I
specialize in the psychoeducational assessment of children, adolescents, and adults who
are suspected of having an autism spectrum disorder, dyslexia, or any
type of learning difficulty or developmental delay in the Republic of Ireland only.
Free Services
In the interests of children and their families, I provide free early screening of social communication, expressive speech/language, and symbolic functioning
in children aged six to 24 months. I also screen for autism
spectrum disorders in children aged 18 to 36 months. Just download the M-CHAT and Scoring Instructions. Email me with the results or I can score the M-CHAT and help interpret it for you. For other language and social delay concerns, email me with the age, in months, of your child along with your concerns and I will send you an appropriate screening instrument.
Email consultation is
complimentary. Phone calls are at client expense and are also
complimentary. I also volunteer my time answering questions on autism
and Asperger's syndrome on about.com. There, you can review my answers to over 1000 questions. Please Note: At no time will James Michael Roan attempt to diagnose or dismiss a potential diagnosis over the Internet (see Disclaimer below).
Formal Assessments (Republic of Ireland only)
My
formal assessments are of the highest quality and specificity allowing
for an intervention program tailored exactly to you or your child's
needs. My services are used by physicians, psychologists, and other healthcare professionals as part of their diagnostic process. Public and private schools use my services to better understand the needs of their students. Parents use my services as part of their advocacy for their child and planning for their future. Autism Consultation (Republic of Ireland only)
I
provide consulting services to individuals, parent groups, and public
and private schools. I can design individual programs or assist in
establishing school-wide integrated programs.

James Roan is a certified school psychologist who has been
consulting in the areas of autism, Asperger’s Syndrome, and learning
difficulties in Ireland for over nine years. James earned
his M.Ed. in School Psychology and M. Ed. in Adult Education and receives ongoing post
graduate training in autism at the University of Washington’s Autism Center. James
Roan has traveled to Galway, Limerick, Mayo, Clare, Dublin, Cork, Waterford,
and other cities and counties across Ireland assessing children and adults, and
consulting with solicitors (lawyers) in defense of children with disabilities. James Roan consulted with the graduate department of the Waterford Institute of
Technology in Waterford Ireland in the development of their graduate program
for the certification of private autism tutors. James has conducted formal
assessments of students in the Autism Unit in the Claddagh National School in County Galway
Ireland.
